Hyderabad, July 29: In a major relief to government teachers selected under DSC-2003, the Telangana High Court has ruled that the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) is applicable to them, rather than the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS).

The court stated that the key criterion is the notification year (2003), not the date of appointment. This judgement came after several DSC-2003 selected teachers filed petitions requesting inclusion under the OPS, which was applicable until August 31, 2004.

The recruitment notification was released in November 2003.
The selection process was completed by June 2004.
Appointment orders were issued only in November 2005.
However, the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) was introduced from September 1, 2004.

The petitioners argued that since the recruitment process was completed before CPS implementation, they must be covered under the Old Pension Scheme.
